The Wellcome Genome Campus will bring together leaders from science, technology and health data on Wednesday 17th June for Beyond the Sequence – Building the Next Era of AI Biology, part of Cambridge Wide Open Day.

The lunch event will explore how advances in AI biology, biodata, genomics and health data infrastructure are accelerating innovation across life sciences, biotech and healthcare.

As AI becomes more deeply embedded in research and healthcare, the ability to generate, curate and interpret biological data at scale is becoming increasingly important. Home to globally recognised institutes and decades of expertise in biodata generation, the Wellcome Genome Campus is well placed to help shape the next era of AI-enabled discovery, genomics and precision medicine.

Speakers include Jennifer Fleming from EMBL-EBI on the role of open biodatabases in the development of AlphaFold and the future of AI-enabled discovery; James McCafferty from the Wellcome Sanger Institute on the potential of quantum genomics; and Chris Schonewald from the Health Data Research Service (HDRS) on building a secure single front door to UK health data.

Attendees will also hear about expansion plans backed by the Wellcome Trust to help transform the Campus into a globally significant ecosystem for biotech innovation, supporting the growth of future biodata ventures.
